Anadolu Efes
Panathinaikos Basketball 2 May
2 May 2025, Friday, 20:30 | Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi, Istanbul

Last chance

We have made it past the semi-finals of the Euroleague play-offs. Fenerbahçe, the only team to sweep the first three games, became the first team to qualify for the Final Four, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, outside Europe, for the first time. Our hope of witnessing a repeat of the 2019 Four-Team Final in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where two Turkish teams faced off in the semi-finals, was dealt a blow after the first three matches. Anadolu Efes, who managed to steal a game from Ergin Ataman's Panathinaikos in Athens, lost the match played on Wednesday evening at the Basketball Development Centre, handing the home advantage back to their rivals and falling behind 2-1 in the series. With no room for error, our team aims to win on Friday evening to extend the series to the third week, the final match. Regardless of the outcome, those planning to support the blue-and-white team at Zeytinburnu for the last Euroleague match of the season in Istanbul can secure tickets for the Anadolu Efes – Panathinaikos match through seatpin with the best available options.

We are expecting another comeback story in the most competitive series

Looking at the first three matches of the Euroleague playoff series, the Panathinaikos – Anadolu Efes series is proving to be the most exciting series for basketball fans, featuring some fantastic matches. Fenerbahçe swept Paris Basketball, while the Monaco – Barcelona and Olympiacos – Real Madrid series saw the home teams remain unbeaten. In the Monaco – Barcelona series, no game ended with a double-digit margin, failing to deliver the Clutch Time excitement. The Olympiacos – Real Madrid games, despite ending with margins of 6–8 and 12 points, were enjoyable matches and promise more to come. Looking at the Panathinaikos – Anadolu Efes series, all three games ended with a margin of no more than 4 points. The first two games played in Athens featured amazing comebacks. In the third game, our team trailed by 13 points at the end of the third quarter, but managed to catch up to 68-68 and 72-72 in the final quarter. Despite leading until the middle of the second quarter and taking the lead at 31-29, our team failed to regain the lead and lost the match, though the final moments were filled with intense excitement. In a series known for its intense match endings and comebacks, our team, which fell behind for the second time, made a comeback and won two consecutive matches, still in contention for an Abu Dhabi ticket. While achieving this against the defending champions won't be easy, the flawless performance shown at the end of the regular season gives us hope. If you want to keep this hope alive, join us at the Basketball Development Centre on Friday evening. Tickets for the Anadolu Efes – Panathinaikos match are available on seatpin.
